Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Participates as a key member of the Dean's Executive team, and serves as the primary business advisor to the Dean. Promotes a unified view of the School of Music's interests and aligns work with goals of the School. Plans, organizes, directs and manages the business operations for the School. Directs, coordinates and implements the practices needed to manage all funds in accordance with the policies of the School of Music, University, and State of South Carolina. Interprets policies related to approval of fiscal transactions pertaining to procurement, expenditure requests, budget formulation and managements, to ensure compliance with USC, State and Federal regulations. Communicates School of Music financial information on a timely basis to the Dean and other personnel, where appropriate. Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and program directors. Develops and maintains professional relationships with university officials and personnel. Performs financial activities in accordance with standard financial principles, processes, and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)Bachelor's degree in related field; minimum of five years financial-related experience.
Preferred QualificationsExtensive knowledge of USC accounting system. Thorough knowledge of USC Policies and Procedures, state and federal regulations relating to contracts, grants and procurement. Prefer a working knowledge of PeopleSoft, USC Accounting Services Intranet, DataWarehouse, Web-Based-Budgeting.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesProficient use of Microsoft Excel. Ability to coordinate administrative functions, maintain efficient business and accounting practices, multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions. Must be analytical, possess good written and oral communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and a willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Good work ethic and professionalism is a must.
