Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under general supervision, reporting to the Senior Director of Development (SrDOD) for SC Honors College, the Assistant Director of Development supports the management and operations of Development through lead annual gift fundraising for the SC Honors College. Responsible for building and directing the lead annual gift alumni solicitation program of donor/prospect portfolios for the SC Honors College. This position will be part of the SC Honors College Development team and will operate, within the system and procedures of Development, to ensure consistent and well-coordinated activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 1 year related experience in an area such as alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development.

Preferred Qualifications

Fundraising or development experience in higher education.


Appropriate knowledge of principles and methods of planning and being a part of a comprehensive fundraising program. Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, volunteers, businesses and the general public. Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors/prospects. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends, as necessary. Effective computer experience including database operation and word processing.
