Description:

The Wellness and Recreation Center Coordinator of Operations is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the Wellness and Recreation Center. The Coordinator is directly responsible for the area of Aquatics which includes the supervision, management, and training of the Aquatics Staff. The daily operations include, but are not limited to opening and closing the facility, ensuring the safety of the patrons that utilize the facility, and the supervision of the interns, student employees, and patrons that frequent the facility. The Coordinator position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Foster student development and leadership skills for a staff of 40-50 part-time student employees
  • Assist with the coordination of hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student employees and/or interns working within the Wellness & Recreation Center
  • Supervise, manage, and train the aquatics staff, as well as directly oversee the Aquatics Area
  • Complete biweekly time-card approval for student staff of 10-20 student lifeguards
  • Provide evening supervisory coverage of the Wellness & Recreation Center and its student staff
  • Ensure that student staff maintain current American Heart Association First Aid and CPR Certifications and lifeguards maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications
  • Assist with the design, planning, and implementation of fitness programming that will encourage safe and enjoyable participation for a broad range of students, faculty, and staff
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Operations to ensure that daily cleaning and maintenance issues are being addressed in a satisfactory manner
  • Regularly perform risk management audits of the facility
  • Other duties as assigned




Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Recreation, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field required
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a wellness, recreation or physical education setting
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid, & CPR Certifications or ability to obtain certification within 6 months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience assisting with the management and operation of a campus recreational sports facility?
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, & CPR Instructor Certification
  • Current CPO Certification
