Required Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in basic assessment in higher education

Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing marketing plans

Experience developing and updating websites

Demonstrated skills with social media to a broad audience

Strong verbal, writing and editing skills, including writing and editing content of correspondence and publications

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education

Special consideration given to individuals who hold a master's degree in education, social sciences or related field

Job Description:
This position will provide ongoing, direct support for the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students (Dean). Responsibilities include carrying out the mission of the Dean of Students Office (DOS), coordinating the assessment of seven areas for DOS, working on special projects, planning and implementing staff development activities and other duties as assigned

Job Duties:
  • Create and implement the assessment of seven areas within the Dean of Students Office (develop the strategic plan for the areas/office, create the assessment tools to be used by the different areas, develop the annual report of the Dean of Students Office including the executive summary, comply with SACS accreditation requirements for the office, conduct benchmarking as needed, etc.)

  • Create, develop and implement a marketing plan for the office (conduct need assessment for marketing needs, develop and update websites to make sure we are telling our story via our electronic media, develop implement our social media marketing plan, create/maintain pull up banners, coordinate presence of staff at different division events and be in charge of selecting giveaways for our programs/publicity, etc.)

  • Create and update publications for the office

  • Plan and implement staff development activities for 23 full time staff members, five graduate students and 25 undergraduate student workers (retreats, ongoing training and education, etc.)

  • Assist with the coordination of technology needs in the office

  • Oversee record retention for the office

  • Serve as the City of San Marcos Community Liaison

  • Other duties as assigned
