Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Events, the Events Specialist serves as a key member of the Admissions Events team.
Events include but are not limited to prospective student information receptions and open houses, admitted student welcome days and yield events, scholarship programs, and secondary school counselor programs. Events are conducted both on and off campus and the Events Specialist will coordinate all assigned event details and execute events with the highest standards and practices. S/he will work closely with campus partners including facilities, catering, media, public safety, and college liaisons. Additionally, s/he will continue to develop partnerships with current and new external vendors necessary to support successful prospective and admitted student events. This individual will be expected to clearly communicate office needs and expectation when working with and hiring vendors. S/he will assist with the processing of all event related contracts, ensuring submissions and adherence to University policies and guidelines, as well as ensuring payments are being processed. This staff member will have contact with and serve the needs of prospective students, parents, and secondary school counselors, and will deliver significant customer service functions including phone and email coverage. The Events Specialist will be mindful of the service and visitor experience that is offered at events in setting the tone for the experience a prospective student will have at the university as an enrolled student. S/he will be diplomatic in working with campus partners. Occasional nights and weekends will be required for on campus events.
Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience, within higher education or event planning, required.
