Job Description Summary:
The video producer oversees all aspects of video production for the Office of Strategic Communications (OSC). The position is responsible for developing original and innovative visual storytelling to support the university brand, programs, colleges, and initiatives. Primary responsibilities include: working with OSC strategic team to develop concepts; developing storyboards/shot lists; writing, directing, producing, editing long-form and short-form video content for university website and social channels; ensuring high-quality standards for music, sound, color, effects and story narrative; integrating university priority messages into the narrative; delivering content on deadline; some still photography.
Managing, planning and development of video content:
*Meet with campus partners/program chairs to identify purpose and intended impact of video projects
*Plan and schedule all aspects of production
*Collaborate and strategize with OSC team on direction and concept for videos
*Interact with all levels of university administration, faculty and staff
*Oversee temporary staff, freelancers and student workers as needed for video production.
Pre-production, production, post-production:
*Create stories that advance specific university strategic, program and/or message priorities
*Personally handle all aspects of video production, including concept development, writing, directing, camera work/shooting, producing, editing, sound design, producing files that can be shared across multiple platforms
*Identify production needs based on project: equipment, crew, music or visual assets, etc.
*Test and monitor all video, lighting and sound equipment to ensure proper function, make suggesions for potential upgrades, maintain equipment lists
*Re-edit content to create multiple pieces for various platforms/channels
*Create shooting/production schedules to ensure deadlines met
*Occasional still photography
Maintain video content library for easy search, file, access.
Participate in OSC team meetings to ensure understanding of ongoing communications/brand/imitative priorities.
Additional duties as requested by immediate supervisor.
4 years experience in Video/film production: camera operator, editor, producer, director.
4 years experience in understanding of what makes compelling, relevant digital storytelling.
Studio and outside lighting.
Use of graphics in video production.
Audio and music for video content.
Editing tools and special effects (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro).
Must have a strong portfolio of video projects.
Ability to bring fresh ideas to video storytelling. Understanding of role of digital and social media marketing in the distribution and syndication of branded video content.
