Designer - Graphics Designer

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Utah Valley University is seeking a Graphics Designer for the University Marketing and Communications department. Under the direction of the Art Director of Creative Services, creates design solutions for a wide range of complex visual communication assignments, including a wide variety of graphic applications requiring innovative and creative capabilities. Works from general design guidelines and principles utilizing extensive creative skill and judgment regarding composition, media selection, presentation impact and style definitions to communicate projects. Performs duties involving the creation and design of original graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree and one year experience in similar duties or an associate degree with three years experience in similar duties or any combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of graphic design and the creative process.
  • Knowledge of how to pre-press files and prepare digital graphics for printing.
  • Knowledge of the printing process, including typography, press-checks, paper, and ink.
  • Skills in computers and computer applications, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Flash, Final Cut Pro, etc.
  • Web design and light programming experience a plus.
  • Skills in verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to design and manage graphics communication projects.
  • Ability to produce professional illustrations by hand and on the computer.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a higher education environment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for long periods of time using a computer.

Pay Range: $36,319 - $48,425
