The University of Dayton School of Education and Health Sciences is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant or tenured associate professor to serve as the Nursing program director in the Department of Health and Sport Science. The department offers a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and the opportunity to launch the proposed new BSN completion program anticipating enrolling its first cohort of students in Fall 2019.

 

The University of Dayton BSN completion program offers two tracks for student success. First, a cooperative agreement between Sinclair Community College (S.C.C.) and the University of Dayton invites highly qualified pre-licensure students to seek dual enrollment as a S.C.C. Associate Degree student and as a BSN student at the University of Dayton. This program design is referred to as a ‘Pathway’ or ‘1+2+1 Program’. Additionally, individuals who have attained an ADN in nursing from a community college other than S.C.C. would also be eligible to apply to complete the University of Dayton BSN program. The University of Dayton will only confer the BSN degree to individuals who have passed the NCLEX exam and are licensed, without sanctions, to practice nursing in the state of Ohio.

 

Position responsibilities include: providing academic and educational leadership to launch and administer the new program; developing the curriculum; leading the initial and ongoing process of CCNE accreditation. administering all facets of the program; teaching at the undergraduate level; and advising students. Applicants must be eligible for Ohio licensure Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active scholarship agenda, collaborate with campus colleagues, develop community partnerships and serve at the departmental, university, community and professional levels.

 

Minimum qualifications for appointment at the assistant professor level are*:
● Eligibility for Ohio RN licensure
● Doctorate in nursing or health-related field (Ph.D. or Ed.D.)
● Master's degree in nursing and a bachelor’s degree in nursing
● 1 year teaching experience in nursing, at the university-level, as instructor of record
● Effective written communication skills
● Articulated ability to conduct publishable research for peer-reviewed journals

 

*In addition to the above requirements, appointment at the rank of associate professor requires a record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with the criteria for promotion to the rank of associate professor in the Department of Health and Sport Science and the School of Education and Health Sciences.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
● Five+ years of successful recent (within 10 years) teaching experience in nursing, at the university-level, as instructor of record
● Demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and scholarly presentations
● Two+ years of successful recent (within 10 years) experience in educational administration
● Successful experience with new program development
● Successful experience with data collection systems
● Demonstrated experience engaging with community partners
● Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative and diverse environment
● Effective oral communication skills;
● Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
● Successful experience in online course development and delivery
● Willingness to disseminate scholarship related to nursing education
● Willingness to engage in Quality Matters online training and course design;
● Affinity for the values central to Marianist education including diversity and social justice.

The Philosophy of Teaching and Description of Research Program statements should describe how the candidate’s teaching and research align with the mission of the university.
