Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The School of Nursing, within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) seeks candidates for a 9 month non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer. The primary teaching responsibility will be assigned to undergraduate nursing programs to meet the school teaching needs. In addition, all faculty positions have expectations for advising students, performing professional and community service and outreach, and contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an on campus presence as part of the School of Nursing faculty. Appointments begin August 2018, however, a mid-semester or later start date in the next academic year may be negotiable.

Minimum Requirements:
Faculty qualifications must include a Master’s Degree in Nursing, and a current RN License in NC or eligibility for licensure in NC are expected as part of the hiring process.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience or certification in acute and chronic care, community health, or health policy with prior teaching experience.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The School of Nursing has an outstanding legacy of serving the people of southeastern N.C. through education, scholarship and service. The SON is dedicated to excellence in the development of health care professionals through in-depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement and community outreach and impact.
The SON is located in McNeill Hall, a state-of-the-art facility that includes offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, student success areas and learning commons, and the Simulation Learning Center. The Simulation Learning Center uses high, medium and low fidelity human patient simulators as a teaching and learning tool for nursing education. With the use of simulation, we strive to create a realistic environment and a powerful learning experience that promotes cognitive, affective, physical and social development of the student as well as the incorporation of inter-professional collaborative experiences for students across the degree programs in the College.

The SON offers the following degree programs: BSN, MSN (Family Nurse Practitioner), RN BSN online program, DNP, BS in Clinical Research, MS in Clinical Research and Product Development, and Post Master Certificates in Family Nurse Practice and Nurse Education. Approximately 1,700 undergraduate and 350 graduate students are enrolled in programs within the SON. Currently, the SON has 65 full-time faculty.
UNCW achieved the ranking of 7th Best Online Bachelor’s Program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The School of Nursing’s RN-BSN and BS in Clinical Research programs were the primary drivers that helped UNCW achieve this milestone.

College/School Information:
The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health-related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and application. In the formative stage of development, the CHHS is currently home to three professional schools: School of Health and Applied Human Science, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work.
