Job Description Summary:

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Milken Institute School of Public Health (GWU SPH) at George Washington University is conducting several NIH-funded HIV prevention studies.

The Department is seeking a full time Senior Research Associate (SRA) to help implement these studies and serve as the Project Director for the GW HIV Prevention Clinical Research Site (HPTN CRS). Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and delegates, the SRA will lead the implementation of multi site and investigator-initiated clinical research activities. HPTN CRS activities take place in medical and behavioral clinics, community, field, and mobile van settings. Meticulous research skills are required to function in this high intensity research environment and experience implementing multi-site biomedical clinical trials is necessary. The majority of work will take place off-campus; own transportation required. Travel to trainings and meetings may be required. During periods of recruitment there may be late nights and weekend.

Responsibilities Include:

- Manage data collection, quality management, data management, statistical reports and dissemination
- Manage recruitment, retention, consenting, study referrals and implementation activities
- Supervise research staff
- Provide administrative, regulatory and operations support
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including physicians and medical staff from internal and external agencies
- Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree in a related discipline and 3 years of direct experience in the field. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

- Professional experience in a research setting and research supervisory experience.
- Ability to complete current CITITRAINING HIPAA, FCOI, and Good Clinical Practice certifications
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and function in a professional environment
- Prior experience with data and quality management activities and research management.
- Excellent oral and written skills and professional demeanor appropriate to both clinical and community environments
- Can work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Experience with populations at risk for HIV including men who have sex with men, transgender women
- Previous experience with HPTN multicentered trials and drug trials
- Ability to work autonomously when needed but also functions well in a team
