Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs: Student Academic Issues and Retention and in collaboration with colleagues in Academic Affairs and Student Life, the Advising Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the planning and delivery of first-year academic advising and for supporting faculty advisers and student advisees.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
1.    Coordinate first-year advising assignments with the AVPAA and academic programs
2.    Develop, manage, and assess adviser and advisee training materials (including online preregistration modules, First-Year Course Guide, and Pathways Guide for Majors)
3.    Support first-year student academic adviser training (including the First-Year Adviser Workshop)
4.    Develop, manage, conduct, and assess faculty adviser professional development workshops
5.    Develop, manage, and assess the summer preregistration program
6.    Coordinate first-year advising assessment
7.    Develop, manage, and assess faculty adviser professional development opportunities
8.    Maintain familiarity with academic advising scholarship and best practices and disseminate to faculty and staff
9.    Academic program support for New Student Orientation
10.    Professional support for the Advising and Registration Committee
11.    Serve on the Starting Strong QEP Implementation Team
12.    Serve on the Starting Strong QEP Early Alerts Team
13.    Other duties as assigned

Experience Required: 
Experience in the field of academic advising at the time of application
The ideal candidate will have:
1.    A record of providing student-centered academic advising
2.    A commitment to the latest scholarship and best practices in academic advising
3.    A history of productive relationships with faculty and staff colleagues
4.    A willingness to use data to improve student outcomes
5.    A track record of strong communication and organizational skills

Education Requirements: 
Master's degree in a relevant field; Doctoral degree strongly preferred
