199201 - Associate Director of the LEEP Center & Director of Career Development
Clark University’s LEEP Center seeks to fill the position of Associate Director of the LEEP Center & Director of Career Development. Reporting to the Associate Dean and Director of the LEEP Center, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operation of the LEEP Center Career Development Office, collaborate with staff in the LEEP Center and with offices across the University on efforts to promote student professional development. Serve on the LEEP Center leadership team and hold administrative responsibilities related to the daily management of the LEEP Center. Work in support of University goals to guide students in the development of their personal and professional goals to ensure appropriate readiness for post-baccalaureate opportunities. Duties and Responsibilities Included in a range of responsibilities, will be providing a vision and leadership for career development in support of the LEEP Center’s strategic goals and the University's mission, individual career counseling; coordinating programs that assist students in exploration and development of their future career plans; developing strategies to improve student professional readiness; and engaging faculty, employers, alumni, and other constituents around career development and career outcomes. Assisting the director with LEEP Center programming and activities, liaising with other University offices to facilitate posting and promotion of opportunities and student engagement. Making presentations to parents and students about career development. Supervising the staff of career development, training new graduate assistants in basic career counseling techniques and developing and maintaining individual performance and career development plans for each team member, meeting with them periodically for updates and coaching. Engage in holistic advising, drawing from: academic advising, career counseling, and student development theories; Clark University academic requirements; Clark University resources; and national best practices. Working with other staff, delivers programs and services that advance student success. Independently provides advising that helps students identify, align, and compete for co-curricular opportunities that complement their academic and professional goals, interests, and passions as well as other duties as assigned. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree. Five years of experience in a University environment directly working with an undergraduate population, a minimum of three years working in career development or career development and a minimum of two years supervisory experience is preferred. Certification for career coaching, résumé writing, skills inventories, etc is a plus. Demonstrated career counseling skills preferred, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to organize, analyze, prioritize, and problem-solve within a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions, work collaboratively with other staff as well as members of the Clark community, work with large and small groups of students, manage confidential information and sensitive situations, and analyze and address the education, personal, and professional needs of students. Available to work some nights and weekends, must be self-directed with the ability to work independently Technical qualifications include a demonstrated experience with database-related software and student information systems and a familiarity with academic advising, career counseling, and/or student development theories This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 month position with excellent benefits, which include employee and family tuition benefits, vacation, generous retirement plan, free use of campus fitness center and many more.
