Job Summary:

This is an advanced level medical assistant postion at University Health Service, UW-Madison. The Medical Assistant 2 (MA 2) will be responsible for the direct and indirect support and assistance of clinical providers in the Occupational Medicine (OM) Clinic.

The Occupational Medicine (OM) Clinic provides specialty health services for eligible students, faculty, and staff at UW-Madison based on their workplace exposures. The Occupational Medicine Clinic serves a large multicultural group of individuals so the MA2 must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and advanced communications skills. The MA2 must possess knowledge of technical care services including basic lab test collection and processing, set up and assistance of medical procedures, immunization administration and supply ordering.

The MA2 responsibilities include, but are not limited to: rooming patients, point of care lab testing, setting up for and completing assigned procedures (such as spirometry and respirator fit testing), cleaning patient care areas, providing clerical support, and communicating effectively with patients, team members, and customers both within and outside of UHS. The MA2 also serves as the primary point of contact for the student medical assistants in the Occupational Health Clinic. This position performs under the limited supervision of professional medical/nursing staff and reports to the Occupational Medicine Nurse Manager.


Schedule Comment:

Normal hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm from Mon-Fri. Hours may vary based on operational needs
