Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration seeks a Visiting Professor of Educational Leadership. This appointment, which begins in Fall 2018, is a non-tenure track, one-year appointment (with the possibility of renewal) at a salary that is competitive and commensurate with rank and experience. All standard University of North Texas, College of Education, and relevant Department of Teacher Education and Administration faculty personnel rules and procedures apply to this position.
Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester of the academic year (fall and spring) or the equivalent. The instructional assignments may include courses in the M.Ed., Ed.D. and/or Ph.D. program areas, along with service as coordinator of principal and/or superintendent internship/certification, project leader of assigned special projects, lead instructor, committee member and/or co-chair of doctoral dissertation committees. Summer school teaching is possible but is dependent on budget and demand.
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration offers degree programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, involving traditional on-campus classes as well as alternative delivery approaches. The mission of the Teacher Education and Administration faculty is to improve educational practice through the generation of knowledge and the preparation of education professionals who serve all students in an effective, inclusive, and equitable manner.

Qualified candidates will have an earned doctoral degree with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours in educational leadership or a closely related field (e.g., educational policy or administration).
Preference will be given to candidates with recent, high-ranking, central office administrative experience in public school districts with diverse populations (especially at the superintendent level). Candidates should be prepared to teach a dynamic and diverse student population, should understand state requirements for principal and superintendent certification, and should demonstrate a willingness to teach in accelerated and online teaching environments.
