General Summary of Position:

The University of Massachusetts Lowell Department of Biological Sciences invites applications to fill a full-time September 2018 tenure-track faculty position, at the Assistant/Associate Professor level with a research focus that complements and augments our departmental strengths. We are especially interested in enhancing our research expertise in microbiology, cancer biology and/or immunology and seek an individual who studies biological processes ranging anywhere from molecules to cells to organisms. The Department of Biological Sciences has a diverse group of faculty who use multiple model systems with access to a state-of-art aquatic facility, animal facility and a variety of core facilities, including a planned multi-modal imaging facility. Applicants interested in establishing interdepartmental and intercollege collaborations, for instance with members of the Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences and UMass Medical School faculty, are encouraged to apply. The successful individual will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, and contribute to the department's teaching mission. Teaching responsibilities will include the development of both undergraduate and graduate courses relevant to the successful candidate's area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Earned doctorate and postdoctoral experience (required at the time of application)
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse groups

  • Demonstrated teaching ability at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
  • Potential to establish a sustainable externally funded research program
  • Demonstrated publication record in scholarly journals
