Job Description:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment reporting to the Assistant Dean of International Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Working under the general supervision of the assistant dean of international education, the assistant director has primary responsibility for development and coordination of communication supporting recruitment of students for a portfolio of academically focused study abroad programs.  These communication strategies include web, electronic, and print publications along with social media, student blogs and vlogs, webinars, and emerging communication platforms.  The person in this position will have the opportunity to develop and implement innovative strategies for outreach on campus collaborating with faculty and will work with students during the application process.  The assistant director will also liaise with a number of U.S. based institutions to deepen relationships with cooperating schools with shared academic goals and facilitate the enrollment of their students in Central College programs.  Additional responsibilities include and assisting with training and support for study abroad programming initiatives, faculty-led programs, pre-departure and re-entry sessions, and related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:   The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree with several years related experience in study abroad and excellent communication skills, including writing, and a capacity to interact effectively with the wide range of constituencies served by the college.  Experience with web-page maintenance, social media, and basic computer skills are required.  The successful candidate will be willing and able to travel and work irregular hours, including nights and weekends as needed, and be able to travel.  The candidate will have the opportunity to work independently with self-initiative and creativity.  Candidates with experience training others in intercultural contexts or who have project management experience are encouraged to apply.
