Professor of Ophthalmology (Cluster Hire)

The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute (GHEI) at the UC Irvine School of Medicine invites applicants for a full-time vision scientist faculty position as part of a cluster hire. This position will be at the Professor level in the Professor Series (Tenure). The candidate will also serve as the Director of the Center for Translation Vision Research in the Department of Ophthalmology.

Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the field of Biochemistry with an emphasis on visual pathways, and have a strong international reputation. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a Ph.D./M.S. degree and have demonstrated capabilities for substantial research. Interested candidates should have senior management and leadership experience, and a long track record of grantsmanship and scholarly peer publications.

The incumbent will be expected to perform research; support the institutional and departmental teaching and mentoring missions for graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral scholars; and participate in university and public service.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
