Posting Summary:
The Zimmer lab in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics at the University of Virginia seeks to fill a Research Scientist position for studies on plant cellulose synthases. The project involves cloning, expression, and structural analyses of plant cellulose synthases. Techniques to be employed include but are not limited to X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy, and small angle neutron and X-ay scattering. Additional responsibilities include supervising undergraduate and graduate students and teaching membrane biology graduate courses (no more than 5 hours per year). The University of Virginia School of Medicine provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructures for structural biology and biophysical approaches.
Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent and at least three years of postdoctoral training. The successful candidate will join a dynamic group working on structure-function relationships of integral membrane proteins.
