Advertised Salary:

Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and Area of Specialization:

DVM or equivalent degree with advanced specialized training in Shelter Medicine



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least three years of experience working in or with animal shelters. At least one year of experience with instructional and consultation activities preferred. Proficiency in practical and tactful identification and articulation of strengths, problems, and possible solutions. Ability to write reports and to deliver presentations that will be clear to an audience with a wide range of backgrounds.



License or certificate:

Must have or be eligible to attain license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Wisconsin. Strong preference given to candidates ABVP board certified in Shelter Medicine or eligible to become board certified in Shelter Medicine.



Position Summary:

This position is part of the UW Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine, Shelter Medicine Program.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. The candidate must show creativity and a proven ability to initiate projects and see them through to a successful completion. Must have a demonstrated ability to work well independently and also to collaborate in a team environment. Must have the ability to take direction as well as provide leadership. Must be comfortable working with people of all levels of expertise.
