Position Summary: The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant Professor on the fixed-term track to develop a research program in the organization and function of central auditory system brainstem circuits. The major responsibility will be the development of an independent line of investigation emphasizing brain slice and in vivo experimentation in transgenic mouse lines using contemporary techniques including optogenetic stimulation and whole-cell patch-clamp.
Education Requirements: Ph.D. level training in cellular neuroscience and neurophysiology
Qualification and Experience: Strong background in mathematics and engineering. Successful completion of at least 2 years of post-doctoral training is required. The applicant should have a demonstrated ability of collaboration with other laboratories and show strong potential for successfully competing for external funding.
