Position Summary: The Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant Professor on the fixed-term track to oversee a research program in central auditory function, including in the brainstem and auditory cortex of mice. The major responsibility will be the development of an independent line of investigation emphasizing central auditory function, including in auditory cortex, in normal hearing mice, and in mouse models of autism and hearing loss. Approaches should use contemporary techniques including in vivo imaging of wide-field and multiphoton calcium signals, reflectance signals, multi-site and single unit electrophysiological recording, and auditory brainstem evoked responses.
Education Requirements: Ph.D. training in biomedical engineering or neuroscience
Qualification and Experience: Strong background in engineering approaches and mathematics. Successful completion of at least 2 years post-doctoral training is required. The applicant should have a demonstrated ability of collaboration with other laboratories, and show strong potential for successfully competing for external funding.
