CLINICAL RESEARCH COORD A
Duties: Penn Statistical Imaging and Visualization Endeavor is recruiting a Clinical Research Coordinator A to help investigators conduct multi-modal neuroimaging research on novel and established biomarkers in multiple sclerosis. The position will draw on a wide range of skills and provide learning opportunities in diverse areas. The incumbent will:
Interact with clinical patients and Neurologists to identify and recruit study participants, address questions and safety concerns; schedule, and assess subjects in the Penn MS Division clinical research unit; arrange travel for subjects between sites in our consortium, ensuring patient safety and comfort; acquire data for multi-modal MRI experiments, adjudicate image quality while once again ensuring the patient's safety and comfort; maintenance of regulatory documents and correspondence. Draft and maintain regulatory documents and correspondence. Synthesize information from discussions to develop IRB protocols and modifications therein. Manage interactions with the IRBs at Penn and other sites to ensure study completion. Manage data; build database of imaging and clinical data, correspond with different sites to ensure image transfer integrity. Develop a system for organizing all data for dissemination across the consortium and publicly. Opportunities for data analysis and writing manuscripts abound. Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: BA/BS and 1-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Preference of an educational background in Neuroscience or Biology. An interest in working directly with people with multiple sclerosis is essential. Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations is desirable. While not required, experience with the Unix/Linux operating system and the statistical package R is a major asset. Above all, the applicant should demonstrate strong motivation, empathy, and excellent organizational skills. The candidate must have a passion for science, superb interpersonal skills, and technical affinity skills.
