Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Epidemiology

Department Overview:

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) located in the Fort Worth cultural district, the University of North Texas Health Science Center is one of the fastest-growing academic health science centers in Texas. The University currently enrolls 2,700 graduate students who are pursuing degrees in public health, medicine, bio-medical science, pharmacy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies. The University is well-positioned for rapid expansion, matching the growing population and economic vitality of the DFW Metroplex. At this time, the University of North Texas Health Science Center and Texas Christian University (TCU) are planning to launch a new allopathic (MD) medical school. This effort will establish the University of North Texas Health Science Center as one of the few campuses in the U.S. to support both an allopathic and an osteopathic college of medicine.  

Essential function(s) of this position: T

he successful candidate for the ranks of Associate or Full Professor will be expected to have a well-established record of scholarship, extramurally funded research, teaching, and mentoring. The successful candidate for the rank of Assistant Professor will show strong evidence of potential as an independent researcher and scholar. Although all research areas of epidemiology are welcome, preference will be given to candidates who can strengthen existing areas of teaching and research excellence, which include aging, cancer, health disparities, maternal and child health, substance abuse prevention, online/m-health interventions, and epidemiologic methods. Other duties include teaching, mentoring of students, and service to the Department. This is a full-time, 12-month position. 

The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications: 

* PhD or equivalent in epidemiology or a related field 
* Recognition of outstanding contributions as a scholar 
* Successful record of sponsored research 
* Ability to foster a collaborative program of research and mentor junior faculty 
* Enthusiasm for teaching 
* Commitment to inter-professional education and interdisciplinary research
