Smith College

Smith College is accepting applications for a House Manager.  This position creates a house community based in safety and inclusiveness; provides enriching social and cultural opportunities; maintains high standards of health and safety and follow the Board of Health regulations for youth camps; coordinates, and carry out activities and guides residential staff in their duties to lead activities. This position is required to live in the residence halls with the Smith Precollege Program participants and staff.  This is a six-week, full-time position, running June 25- August 4, 2018.  Most hours are in the evenings, weekends required.   40 hours per week, includes room and board. Hourly rate starts at $13 and is commensurate with experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

House Management and Staff Guidance: Organize residential staff and lead house meetings and briefings. Ensure communication channels remain open between the classroom residential settings. Assist in assigning duties and activities to staff. Provide ongoing feedback and direction to all staff. Be a role model to staff and participants in your attitude and behavior. Help manage the supply inventory, purchasing, and house budget for the summer.

Student Activities and Student Supervision: Responsible for development, implementation and supervision of all residential activities. Vet all house activities to ensure their appropriateness for Smith’s precollege programs. Provide intervention between house residents when necessary and mediate conflicts within your house and across houses. Occasionally speak with parents and guardians of participants. Other duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and experience in Residential Life on a college campus required. Experience working with high schools students preferred. Knowledge of planning and implementing activities for groups or summer camp experience preferred.
