Associate Academic Professional
The School of Economics (SOE) at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA seeks applicants to fill an Associate Academic Professional position, which will serve as the International Program and Curriculum Coordinator, effective May 1, 2018. This position is a fiscal year (twelve month) contract with a one-year appointment, which may be renewed annually.
The Associate Academic Professional for International Programs and Curriculum Coordinator will create and administer a core set of study abroad programs for both graduate and undergraduate students. The goal of these study abroad initiatives will be to create programs in countries and regional economies that are under-represented in the traditional list of study abroad host countries (e.g. Central Asia, the Baltics, Eastern Europe, etc.). Further, the Associate Academic Professional for International Programs and Curriculum Coordinator should be able to take advantage of the interdisciplinary nature of international curricula with the focus on the growing fields in Global Development, Smart/Sustainable Cities, and Energy Systems. The Associate Academic Professional for International Programs and Curriculum Coordinator will be expected to teach appropriate courses in the undergraduate program and may also have the opportunity to teach master’s level courses. This position will report to the Director of Undergraduate Programs.
Candidates should also be prepared to cultivate partnerships and professional relationships internally and externally, especially in the area of international program development and grant writing.
Georgia Tech’s School of Economics is seeking a professional who has a Master’s Degree in Economics or related field, such as Public Policy, International Relations, Business Administration. This position should be well versed in intercultural communications and have strong interest in such regional economies as Central Asia, the Baltics, Central and Eastern Europe, Far East, and the African Continent.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop a strategic plan for the School of Economics’ international programs and study abroad curricula
• Conduct the school’s study abroad program recruitment and marketing
• Establish core study abroad program, in selected regions, including:
o Facilitation of negotiations and accommodations with host institution(s)
o Coordination of logistics with host country/region
o Assistance with development of promotional materials for faculty and student recruitment
o Collaboration, coordination, and liaison with the Georgia Tech Office of International Education to ensure the quality of student travel experience
o Manage international program assessment
• Develop and submission of grant proposals to seek external funding to support study abroad initiatives, research funding, educational development, graduate student support
• Provide advising and academic support to students
• Contribute to the School of Economics’ curriculum and strategic development
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses including, but not limited to, Comparative Economic Systems, Public Finance, and/or Comparative Public Finance, contingent upon area of expertise and teaching experience
