The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking to fill three Instructor, Mathematics positions for Chabot College in Hayward, California.

This position reports directly to the Division Dean.

Representative Duties

1. Ability and willingness to teach a variety of mathematic courses, especially developmental mathematics.

2. Willingness to participate in area, committee, and college required activities.

3. Willingness to teach day, evening, and Saturday teaching assignments.

4. Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.


Minimum Education and Experience

Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics

OR

Bachelor’s in either of the above
AND
Master’s in statistics, physics or mathematics education

OR the equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Familiarity or interest in issues in developmental Mathematics education.

2. Previous teaching experience in Mathematics and Statistics at the college level.

3. Interest in improving student learning and retention in Mathematics and Statistics courses.

4. Ability to enhance instruction to accommodate various learning styles.


Job Work Schedule

This position is full-time, tenure track, beginning Fall 2018. Employment will begin on or about August 16, 2018.
