Position Summary The Princeton Writing Program invites applications for Lecturers to teach topic-based, multidisciplinary Writing Seminars to first-year students. The Lecturer's task is to use the topic of the seminar as a vehicle for teaching strategies and techniques of scholarly writing, as well as for preparing students to navigate the different scholarly conventions and methodologies found across the university. We therefore seek applications from candidates in all fields of study in the social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, and humanities. College-level teaching experience and the Ph.D. are expected. The teaching load is typically two Writing Seminars per term. Applications for part-time Lecturer (teaching 1-1, 1-2, 2-1,0-2, or 2-0) may be considered according to the needs of the Program and at the discretion of the Director. As part of this teaching-intensive postdoctoral program, faculty benefit from regular pedagogy workshops and professional development opportunities. The appointment period is one year, renewable for a total of up to five years. The salary for full-time Lecturers is a minimum of $66,000 (paid over the 10-month academic year) plus benefits and eligibility for research and conference travel grants. Part-time Lecturers are paid on a pro-rated basis according to their teaching load and are eligible for most benefits during the semesters that they teach. The initial period of appointment is September 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019; however, all new faculty must attend full-day workshops May 29 - May 31, 2018, and be accessible over the summer to develop their Writing Seminars in consultation with Writing Program directors. Faculty development meetings are also required throughout the academic year, including two full days of follow-up workshops September 4 - 5, 2018, and a faculty retreat on September 6.
