Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Security & Compliance Unit (S&C) within the Office of Information Technology oversees the security of the University's systems and data in a manner that is consistent with industry best practices and the University's compliance obligations. S&C develops (and ensures compliance with) information security policies/regulations/procedures, oversees implementation of strategic information security initiatives, provides routine security services, provides campus-wide software license management, coordinates IT resilience efforts and provides portfolio/project management guidance for OIT. The Portfolio Project Services (PPS) team in the OIT Security & Compliance Unit is responsible for providing portfolio and project management services across OIT, as well as coordination of our IT Resilience program and Change Advisory Board/Change Management processes. The team manages the portfolio project framework for OIT, creates and maintains standardized project management guideline/processes, provides tools to facilitate the detailed planning and tracking of complex projects within OIT, provides project management for large complex cross-unit projects, coordinates project process reviews and provides a framework for the IT resiliency plan. At the forefront of their responsibilities is the effective use of people, processes and technology across OIT. The team consists of a manager and 2 staff members.

Essential Job Duties: The IT Project Manager provides coordination of and assistance with the project/program management of OIT projects and specifically assist the OIT Security and Compliance unit with the management of their Cyber Security Roadmap projects along with planning and developing effective security services for the campus. Responsibilities include: assisting with the development of a service catalog and configuration management database; recommending and coordinating the implementation of the Service Catalog for services owned by OIT's Security and Compliance unit; managing large IT projects from the OIT project portfolio; providing project management guidelines, standards and assistance; and providing, maintaining and coordinating the development of an IT Resilience Plan. The IT Project Manager will also be involved in OIT business continuity and organizational resilience processes through evaluation of OIT's processes and provide recommended solutions for continuous improvement, in accordance with industry best practices and standards.

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in IT project management or technical project management related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Department Required Skills: Knowledge of project management plans including communication, change, procurement and risk. Experience with managing technical projects that require assistance from multiple team members across the organization. Knowledge in IT and applications/platforms such as Google, Windows, virtual machines, etc. Understanding of basic infrastructure components. Effective communication skills. Experience working as an effective team member.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: At least five years of project management experience, specifically leadership of complex project with multiple technology disciplines and enterprise implementation. Experience with working in a higher education environment. Experience working with a portfolio/project management tool. Experience working under EPMO (Enterprise Project Management Office)/ Portfolio office or deep understanding/knowledge of Project Portfolio Management concepts. Basic understanding of security tools such as vulnerability scanning, Identity Finder, file integrity monitoring and familiarity with IT security standards such as ISO 27002, NIST 800-53, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and etc is a plus. Project Management Professional certification is strongly preferred. ITIL Certification is preferred.
