Position Summary: The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the NC Children's Hospital seeks to fill a full-time, tenured Professor research faculty position to serve as a lead investigator and collaborator with existing physicians and basic scientists. Research links and collaborations with the UNC Marsico Lung Institute will be strongly encouraged and supported. The ideal candidate to join us in this busy and productive academic program will have experience and a strong track record of funding in research related to rare pediatric respiratory diseases, and a history of successful division/department leadership within an academic medical environment. Responsibilities also include documentation for publication, presentation, and funding applications that detail the objectives, rationale and methodology of such research, communicating its results and significance. In addition, active and effective mentoring of pediatric pulmonology and other clinical or research fellows is expected. The position will be based in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonology with secondary appointments in collaborating departments.

Education Requirements: MD or MD/PhD trained and Board certified in Pediatric Pulmonology

Qualification and Experience: Candidate must have direct experience in pediatric pulmonary research, with a proven track record of scientific innovation, independent extramural funding, effective mentorship, and leadership. Position requires excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Applicants must have proven ability to analyze and integrate information from diverse disciplines, as well as a demonstrated ability to develop and advance new therapeutic concepts. Prefer at least 10 years of working in an academic positon as a senior scientist leading a pulmonary research program, with a substantial publication and NIH funding record, and a history of external collaborations in the broader national scientific community.
