The typical work week is Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm (9am-6pm) but may be adjusted according to the needs of the department. The position requires Sunday hours on a rotating basis. Advertised Job Summary
This position serves as the lead technologist assisting with daily problem solving and acts as the laboratory manager in his/her absence. The medical technologist will perform various waived and moderately complex laboratory tests and procedures including hematology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and chemistry procedures according to written protocols and good laboratory practices; operating various lab equipment and daily quality control procedures. Additional duties include but are not limited to use of electronic medical record and laboratory information systems, specimen collection, training staff and support in accreditation activities.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Bachelors degree and 3 years of related experience or Associates Degree and 5 years of related experience.
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other recognized National Certification agency.Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising daily activities in a medical lab in accordance with CLIA and COLA. Experience using electronic laboratory information system and conducting quality improvement activities.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, and information sources for clinical laboratory applications including current laboratory methods, equipment and materials. Knowledge of human physiology. Skill in the use of precision tools and complex laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Ability to prepare and maintain laboratory records and communicate effectively. The ability to prepare and present technical training, and supervise laboratory activities. The ability to perceive colors normally and make olfactory distinctions.
