Executive Support Analyst

Position Summary

MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership and core technology support for IT across MSU in a shared services model. MSU IT and departmental IT staff offer technology resources that support MSU's mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement.  Triage incoming requests and make assignments to staff to optimize incident response and service delivery, including monitoring project resource commitments. Lead process improvement activities, maintaining job aids, standard operating procedures, and training documentation. Orient and train front line staff, including providing refresher training and new content to support service transitions in an evolving environment of new clients and dynamic service catalog. Provide support for workstations and mobile devices in a complex environment, including iOS, Windows, and Android operating systems. Support a team of IT support professionals, including being available on-call to respond to issues or questions as they arise. Support workstation service requests for Executive support managed entities. Provide complete asset management lifecycle services, including asset discovery, tagging, management, decommission, and tracking workstation assets issued by Executive Support client offices. Test and distribute regular software updates and patches for workstations; manage encryption on devices for compliance; develop standard images, image machines, and support workstation customization efforts in support of department needs. Manage backup services for Executive Support supported users, resolve backup failures, and support restoration activities on an as needed basis. Assist users in choice of appropriate hardware and software products.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Ability to isolate, analyze, describe, and resolve complex issues; strong reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to complete tasks on a timeline; experience with imaging, asset management, and backup software; experience working with vendors; managing workstations in a complex environment (Windows and iOS); exceptional customer service values and skills including the ability to successfully resolve conflict constructively and to maintain positive relationship with executive sponsors for customer groups.  Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; must be able to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.  A curiosity in new and emerging technologies is a plus.
