The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the Payroll function in Human Resources Management. Leads and implements the payroll conversion and other initiatives, oversees and implements all payroll scheduling and processing and the prompt resolution of payroll issues. Collaborates with HR Operations and colleges/divisions to continuously improve payroll related transactions. Ensures the timely reporting of payroll data to appropriate internal and external organizations including financial institutions, state and federal entities. Oversees all tax filings and payroll audits to provide compliance with all regulatory agencies. Ensures the timely tax filings for all nonresident aliens. Develops, tests and implements business continuity plans for payroll. Manages payroll staff including providing day to day guidance and direction; conducts staff performance reviews, provides cross training and development plans.
Bachelor’s degree and 6 -8 years of in-depth Payroll work experience overseeing complex domestic and international global payrolls required. Experience in leading payroll conversion initiatives strongly preferred.
In depth knowledge of HR & Payroll systems, experience with Banner HR a plus; experience with Banner, Peoplesoft, Oracle, ADP, Windstar Tax Navigator or SAP Payroll systems strongly preferred
Minimum of 3 years supervisory or management experience required, with the ability to deploy resources appropriately to meet payroll deadlines and requirements
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) required; Certified Payroll Professional required.
Experience with 3rd party payroll and tax vendors including global payrolls strongly preferred
Working knowledge of systems applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access required
Strong business analysis and project management skills strongly preferred
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with customers required
