Marketing Director

Job Description Summary:
The marketing director is responsible for strategic planning and execution of university marketing and advertising for undergraduate, graduate, online, and regional campuses.

Specific Duties:

Develop and manage execution of strategic marketing and advertising campaigns for the university. Current and innovative best practices in integrated* marketing should be applied to increase awareness of and drive prospect interest/application intent in traditional undergraduate, adult undergraduate, graduate, online and regional campus programs. (*Note: includes traditional as well as social media, digital channels, content marketing).

Work with creative services, digital, content production and strategic communications team to manage timely development of integrated marketing and recruitment campaigns, collateral, recruitment events, and grassroots programs.

Write and/or edit copy for advertising and marketing collateral.

Liaison with campus partners (deans, faculty, department leads, admissions recruiters) to maintain collaborative relationships, obtain program information, provide strategic counsel, present plans and ideas, secure approvals of materials.

Use research data to develop strategic and creative approaches for marketing materials and advertising. Develop metrics to track performance of marketing strategy through measurement and analysis of prospective student inquiries, conversion, retention, and audience feedback to understand effectiveness and ROI.

Oversee and maintain quality control/editing on all marketing materials, ads, email campaigns, through the production process.

Oversee purchase and inventory management of promotional items.

Oversee marketing and advertising budget; liaison with media buying partners to secure optimal rates.

All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the executive director of strategic communications and AVP of marketing and communications.



Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree


5 years experience in marketing, advertising, content production, project management.


Ability to work independently.


Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft or Apple applications).


Superior writing, editing, communication skills.


Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work and execute projects independently. 5 years experience in marketing and/or advertising (writing, editing, account management). 1-2 years working in higher education.
