The Department of Agriculture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness. This is a 10 month, tenure-track position. Start Date: August 1, 2018.
Applicants must have an educational background in the area of agricultural economics, agribusiness, or agriculture marketing. Duties include a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester in courses related to Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Marketing, and Agribusiness Management. Additional teaching assignments will depend on the successful candidate’s areas of interest and expertise.
The individual hired will also serve as an academic advisor to students in the department’s programs, assist with student clubs and organizations, participate in administrative and service activities, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content of degree programs in the department. The successful candidate will work with the community and college on initiatives and activities that enhance the student learning experience and community relationships and promote student engagement. The faculty evaluation process addresses teaching/advising, scholarly activity, professional development, and service.
A Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field is required. College teaching experience is preferred, but evidence of teaching ability is required. A strong commitment to working with undergraduate students is a must. A background in agricultural marketing, agribusiness management, and risk management is preferred, but candidates with expertise in any related field will be considered. The ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing is required.
