This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position.This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. The designated work schedule is Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Under limited supervision, incumbent installs, modifies and adjusts computer-based heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and systems; fabricates and implements programs or building control strategies for digitally controlled or global supervisory controlled systems; troubleshoots, designs and modifies programs for building automation systems; repairs and maintains individual hardware and software components of applicable systems; performs major-to-minor overhauls which include disassembling and inspecting of all parts, replacing worn and defective parts, reassembling of all equipment and controls, and testing to ensure proper function; performs major to-minor repairs of microprocessor-based automation systems that monitor and control building environments; responds to requests for service; diagnoses and troubleshoots system problems and corrects as necessary; may serve as the department specialist on building automation systems; and trains others on the troubleshooting, overhaul, repair, calibration, and testing of controls to facilitate the maintenance of systems.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $6,411 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,477 - $6,943 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Journey level skill equivalent to that acquired through two years of journey-level experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, ventilating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and systems or the equivalent combination of formal course work in mechanical technology and hands-on experience.
Four or more years of experience in the following areas:
Progressively responsible skilled journey-level experience diagnosing, repairing and maintaining large, complex and sophisticated heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning and water treatment systems.
Experience installing, inspecting, servicing, repairing, replacing and calibrating building automation and contort systems.
Experience using programming features of building automation systems.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Relevant work experience, within the previous five years, in a similar role and demonstrated experience with current building automated controls.
Five years of experience in facilities operations and maintenance in a large multi-building facilities environment.
LEED AP with Specialty
Building Operator Certification, Level 2
Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), and/or Energy Management System (EMS). Experience with multiple controls systems integration and BAS/EMS programming.
Working knowledge Familiarity with various controls protocols, some examples: (LonWorks, BACnet, Modbus, Robert Shaw DMS, R2 JACE, Delta V, Invue, TreeTech, IA.)
