We are expanding our team in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Virginia and invite applications for an Assistant Director of Student Engagement/Operations in the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS), specifically Newcomb Hall the University's student center. The Division of Student Affairs works for and alongside students to create the distinctive student experience for which UVA is known. The University's mission to develop engaged citizen-leaders is the foundation of the Division's work. Members of the Division do this work guided by six core values - academic rigor, diversity and inclusion, health and wellness, honor, public service and student self-governance.
The Assistant Director for Student Engagement/Operations for Newcomb Hall works in the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS). The Assistant Director's Programmatic responsibilities include (i) designing and leading the student staff program at Newcomb Hall so that the program supplements and enhances the academic experience of the students participating in that program while also enhancing Newcomb Hall's role in the life of our students; (ii) leading the operations of Newcomb Hall and certain satellite spaces managed by the Office of the Dean of Students, including facility operations, maintenance, risk management, and safety/emergency procedures. The Assistant Director's Student support responsibilities include advice and support to Newcomb Hall student staff as well as to other students and student organizations operating out of the building. Staff leadership and supervision responsibilities include supervision, training and developing, and evaluating student staff at Newcomb Hall and professional staff in event planning and operations.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $ 55,000 to $ 65,000 and is commensurate with qualifications.
