Advertised Job Summary
The Strategic Communications Director for the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) is responsible for managing school marketing and communications efforts. Reporting to the CEC Dean and Senior Director of Development, serves as key member of the senior leadership team in implementing strategic initiatives. The Director will be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing for both internal and external audiences across multiple platforms. Directs the development of the CEC annual content calendar. The Director will operate within and ensure all CEC communications and branding are in alignment with USC guidelines. Serves as CEC liaison with central offices of Communications and Public Relations.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master's degree and 4 years professional development and dissemination experience related to strategic communications and/or public relations, or Bachelor's degree and 6 years professional development and dissemination experience related to strategic communications and/or public relations.Preferred Qualifications
Prefer minimum of 8 years of professional communications and/or public relations experience. Prefer communications experience within an institution of higher education.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to collaborate with high accountability and work across diverse constituent base. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge and skills in areas of marketing, and creative development for things such as photography, video, and magazine. Ability to determine marketing return on investment and evaluate program effectiveness. Ability to leave team of marketing professionals. Ability to motivate teams to achieve strategic marketing objectives. Ability to understand SC and USC procurement policies. Knowledge and skills with web content management systems. Ability to work independently, while knowing when to seek guidance from Director, central communications office, etc. Detail-oriented and the ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to take and work on critical feedback and adapt to changing needs of CEC.
