Responsibilities:

The Dean's office of the College of Computer & Information Science is extremely busy and requires an individual with proven skills in handling confidential materials, multi-tasking, and ability to handle sensitive situations in a calm, thoughtful and professional manner. Major responsibilities include providing administrative support for the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs such as assisting with all aspects of the tenure, merit and hiring committees. Duties include taking notes, ordering food, setting up space, and preparing documents for all meetings. The incumbent will work closely with the hiring coordinator during the spring semester to ensure that all aspects of the faculty hiring process are completed including coordinating hiring talks, sending announcements, preparing reimbursements, and finalizing schedules. The incumbent will also be responsible for tracking faculty sabbaticals, leaves, and promotions and preparing all tenure and promotion dossiers. This individual must be able to multi-task under a fast-paced environment with many distractions. He/she will coordinate events/activities with the College as needed. During the past four years the Dean has hired 38 faculty. The hiring seasons during the past two years have averaged approximately 50 on campus interviews. This position is a relatively new position in the college and the incumbent will lead the creation of processes and procedures documents for the merit, hiring, and tenure committees.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in higher education, preferably working with faculty. Individual must have strong organization skills and be comfortable with Microsoft Office and Outlook. Person must be able to multi-task, stay calm in a somewhat hectic environment and be team oriented. Sense of humor a plus. He/she must be able to communicate professionally and effectively on behalf of the college.
