This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Administrative Desktop Support (ADS), a campus service area reporting to University Computing Services (UCS), provides Business & Financial Affairs (BFA) systems administration and management and maintenance services for desktop computing systems. In addition, ADS provides support services to other campus departments, including technical contacts and administrators.
This position reports to the ADS Lead and is responsible for ensuring that the scope of support services is available to ADS clients during designated hours of operation, as well as, after hours when necessary. The incumbent will provide desktop client services, ensuring that computers, software and other equipment work properly, are secured and maintained, and complying with University policies. This position will contribute to technical documentation used in training and informing clients regarding support processes and procedures. The ADS team is part of the SDSU Emergency Operations Center with additional duties assigned. The incumbent may attend committees as assigned by the ADS Lead.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,417 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $9,877 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- At least two years of professional experience providing information technology desktop support services.
- At least two years of professional Active Directory experience.
- At least two years of professional experience providing client services, help desk support, and/or troubleshooting technical issues in an IT environment.
- Working knowledge of commonly used technologies, systems, computing platforms, software, secure computer methods, and data communication networks.
- Knowledge of client/server domain access by Windows and access by Apple MAC systems.
