Director of Operations and Maintenance
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Facilities Management, the Director is responsible for the work outcomes of the Operations and Maintenance Division of Facilities Management at the Main and Ambler Campuses. The Director manages and directs, through subordinate supervisors and staff, the mechanical and building trade functions of the department including: stationary engineering, plumbing, electric, fire/security, HVAC, BAS, refrigeration, carpentry, painting, locksmith, and general maintenance, and ensures responsive, timely and thorough responses to the needs of the University community, providing emphasis on cooperation and liaison with University personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, a minimum of (8) eight years of Facilities Management experience. Experience and knowledge of Regulatory Compliance Standards (such as NFPA, OSHA, etc.). Experience in facilities management, building engineering, maintenance, and capital improvement projects. Demonstrated supervisory experience leading, managing, and coaching a team of employees. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: * Thorough knowledge of facilities planning, design and construction, facilities maintenance and management, utilities operation and management, personnel management and training, and financial management. * Demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance, refrigeration, heating ventilation & air conditioning, building automation control, plumbing, electrical, and fire and life safety system. * Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance Standards - NFPA, OSHA, etc. * Knowledge of the operation maintenance, and repair of oil and gas fired boilers. * Ability to read and understand specifications, blueprints and drawings. * Proven ability to coach, counsel, develop and generally supervise through positive interaction. * Strong leadership, problem-solving, team building, and customer service skills. * Demonstrated proficiency in personal computer operations required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel or equivalent required. * Ability to work with a variety of disciplines and levels of staff.
