Adult Education Transition Advisor (PT) 2 Positions

Job description

The Advisor reports to the Special Programs Manager and is responsible for providing assistance to adult education students in the transition to employment and/or post-secondary education.

Provide advising services to adult education students including academic and career planning.

Collect and disseminate information regarding transition programs and opportunities for employment and post-secondary education.

Recruit and determine eligibility of participants for specific transition and bridge programs.

Provide support to adult education learning communities associated with specific transition programs.

Coordinate adult education student group visitations to the Sugar Grove campus with Recruitment and Retention.

Schedule, organize, and conduct class visitations to adult education classes and student information events.

Provide student referrals to appropriate departments within the college and to community resources.

Remain current on specific discipline clusters for the Counseling and Advising Department, college catalogs and related materials.

Assist with Admissions Activities including, Registration and Planning (E-RAP) sessions, New Student Information form, and referrals to Placement testing.

Remain current on adult education programs, issues, and regulations.

Remain current on community resources for career transition.

Maintain records as required by the college and the funding agency.

Maintain tracking system for student transition.

Attend workshops and meetings as directed by the Dean for Adult Education and Special Programs Manager.

Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.

Two years' experience working in an educational setting.

At least one year successful experience working with adults in a position involving public contact in a social service or educational setting.

Familiarity with the Waubonsee College Adult Education curriculum preferred.

Flexible and able to handle diverse information and student populations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication and human relations skills.

Bilingual preferred.
