The Coordinator supports both the day-to-day organizational operations of the Writing Center and the creative development of its long-term outreach goals and initiatives.

The Writing Center's staff of ~85 undergraduate and graduate student Fellows collectively hold over 5,000 individual appointments each year, offering guidance to peers from across the disciplines at all stages of the writing process. As one of Princeton's most popular academic resources, the Writing Center requires intensive day-to-day logistical management in addition to ongoing pedagogical training and mentoring for its student staff to ensure the quality of teaching it provides. The Coordinator will work closely with the Writing Program's Associate Director to hire, train, and mentor the Writing Center Fellows, as well as to cultivate a strong and supportive culture of writing across the university.


Teaching, Mentoring, and Hiring

• Co-leads training of new Fellows over the summer and early Fall.

• Runs a mentoring group of Fellows as needed.

• Collaborates with the Associate Director to design, publicize, and facilitate staff professional development workshops and pedagogical materials.

• Serves on the Writing Center's leadership committees, and reviews conference reports.

• Takes a leading role in reviewing applications and interviewing prospective new undergraduate and graduate Fellows.

Communication and Outreach

• Organizes outreach initiatives to the residential colleges and departments to support writing across campus.

• Acts as a liaison for the student editors of Tortoise: A Journal of Writing Pedogogy.

• Takes the lead on managing seminar visits and other publicity efforts.

• Oversees the Writing Center's email account and Blackboard site, and generates content for the Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Appointment Scheduling and Tracking

• Schedules staff and mantains the online scheduler.

• Manages the Writing Center's summer hours for the Freshman Scholars Institute.

Event Coordination and Office Support

• Oversees Dissertation Boot Camp registration and recruitment of graduate student "sergeant."

• Tracks payroll in coordination with the Associate Director.

• Organizes catering, photocopies, and resource room.


Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of work experience are required.

Familiarity with writing pedagogy and experience working in a Writing Center are required; proficiency with Microsoft Office and GoogleDrive applications is expected.

Administrative experience and social media experience are a plus, as is prior leadership experience in the Princeton Writing Center.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a team environment are essential.
