TECH RESEARCH LAB C
Duties: The candidate will act as an animal research assistant and will work on projects analyzing the impact of biologics and small-molecule inhibitors on the immune reaction to cancer using multiple mouse models. The research assistant will collaborate with the laboratory team on various projects. The candidate will be required to work independently, collaboratively, possessing strong writing, presentation and analytical skills. He/She will be responsible for 1) assisting in mouse colony maintenance (genotyping, husbandry, weaning, ear tagging, breeding), 2) assisting in mouse studies, including injections, blood collection, surgery, ultrasonography, flow cytometry, 3) monitoring of tumors in cancer models, 4) preparation and analysis of data for development of presentations and reports displaying study results. Additional responsibilities will include receipt and processing of animal samples for RNA, serum and cell isolation and sample preservation. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic/motivation, meticulous organizational skills, strong technical skills for handling mice and conducting interventions including small-animal surgeries, and strong social/communication skills. Overall, the research environment is stimulating and the applicant will provide a supporting role for multiple projects in a laboratory that studies cancer and therapies that utilize the immune system.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 yr of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education required. Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences is preferred, but not required. Experience with general techniques in handling rodents, cellular biology, and flow cytometry is preferred. Meticulous record keeping skills are essential for this position.
