Job Summary

The Skidmore College Counseling Center invites applications for a Staff Psychologist/Social Worker position. We have one position available, with a start date by mid-August. The position is a regular, full-time, 10 month appointment. The position involves providing short-term therapy; crisis intervention, including rotation in after-hours on-call coverage (as back-up to an outside agency); psycho-educational programming; consultation to faculty, staff, and parents; leading at least one psychotherapy or support group per year; and participation in the Center's multidisciplinary treatment team, as well as the larger division of Student Affairs. The successful applicant will also be involved in training the college's Residential Life staff as well as other student leadership training.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should possess a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a Master's in Social Work; have completed a supervised internship; be licensed or license-eligible within 2 years as a psychologist or LCSW in New York State; at least one year previous experience working with college age population; have strong diagnostic and clinical skills as well as experience in working with a broad array of psychological, emotional, and developmental concerns; have experience in working with a traditional college-aged population; and have a demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations including students of color, international students, and LGBTQ students.

Expertise in working with body image/eating disorders and/or substance abuse is not required, but would be desirable.
