Laboratory Research Technician

Provide technical assistance and perform standard laboratory activities in support of research laboratory studying mammary biology and lactation physiology. Under the supervision of the principal investigator, maintain experimental animals and perform animal treatments, assist with design and perform experiments, compile and analyze research data, writing reports and assist with grant proposals. Maintain research records, equipment, and supplies, and assist with supervision of support staff and student researchers. Act as a liaison between project personnel and outside individuals/organizations as necessary and appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor's degree in animal science or biological related fields and one to two years of related experience required. Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing situations of multiple, concurrent projects and to adjust priorities accordingly required. Ability to work with and handle large animals required. Knowledge of and experience with computers including word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based functions and knowledge of statistics and experimental designs required. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain and driver's check may be required.
Previous research or laboratory experience in molecular biology highly desirable.
4-month probationary period required for both internal and external candidates.
