Work Schedule: Flexible schedule (days, evenings, weekends). Schedule varies based on the needs of the department. Supervisor will work with selected candidate to set a schedule designed to support the demands of the department.

Job Description:

SUMMARY

Provides comprehensive support and tracking for pre-college-level math students from entry into their developmental coursework through completion. Responsible for in-person outreach and communications to provide a human connection for students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with discipline tutors to facilitate small group support for math remediation
  • Monitors student progress, including electronic resources and course completion
  • Supports students with technical components of creating accounts and establishing needed credentials to access various online resources
  • Guides students as they navigate through a variety of manual and online resources to provide support in preparation placement testing
  • Collaborates with math faculty to support students within and outside the traditional and non-traditional classroom
  • Collaborates with faculty tutoring coordinators, faculty coordinators, and deans to provide personalized discipline specific support
  • Collaborates with Student Affairs, Campus Success Specialist, and Counseling faculty to provide individualized support and services to students enrolled in pre-college math and/or developmental education course sequences
  • Plans and implements new targeted strategies for students in pre-college math and/or developmental Math
  • May facilitate Placement Preparation workshops in multiple formats and modes
  • Collaborates with Student and Academic Affairs colleagues to streamline and deliver pre-enrollment placement testing and related processes
  • Supports the Assistant Dean/Director in management of the Math Lab
  • Conducts in-person, on-campus outreach to students at various stages of progress to provide encouragement and support
  • Tracks the performance of pre-college math students from placement testing through completion of developmental coursework
  • Compiles reports and data on student progress through pre-college math
  • Recommends and refines processes associated with Math Prep and other programs to support students in math remediation
  • Works collaboratively with student peer tutors/coaches
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of three years of demonstrated relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Possess basic knowledge of fundamental Math coaching concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail
  • Possess basic-level project management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated College teaching experience and/or background in Math
  • Demonstrated experience using online learning systems, such as Elevate My Math, Pearson, and Blackboard
  • Demonstrated experience working at a community college
  • Demonstrated experience working with students in development Math
  • Demonstrated experience/expertise working with students with learning disabilities or special education

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
