Responsibilities

Responsible for developing and overseeing the clinical operations of the College of Medicine’s FMPP-administered medical practices, as well as the day-to-day management of the new FSU PrimaryHealthTM practice during its start-up phase; oversees and directs the organization that delivers clinical services through direct patient care in areas such as family medicine, behavioral health, health education initiatives, and billable telehealth clinical operations. This position directs the long-range planning, operations, and administrative activities of FMPP’s clinical operations in concert with the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
In conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Medical Director of each practice, leads organization within the guidelines of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and related regulatory metrics. Works with college administration to ensure goals are met including volumes, revenue, mission, staffing, and growth. Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects. Utilizing financial, patient, staffing, and provider reporting tools, is responsible for introducing programs and projects that grow the business of the practice while addressing the needs of the community and enhancing the role of the college within the community.
Directs the efforts of, supervises, and/or provides indirect coaching to the Practice Manager of each practice, dependent on its developmental stage, and sets performance standards and accountability as needed. Also provides indirect supervision to a clinical IT specialist in the development and support of FMPP’s Electronic Health Records. In start-up phase of new practice, serves as Interim Practice Manager and provides supervision to on-site practice staff with practice’s Medical Director. Formulates and administers the annual operating budget.
Works with legal counsel, billing experts, the college Privacy and Security Officer, and the Compliance Officer to gain knowledge and understanding of current regulations and is responsible for implementation and adherence by clinic staff and providers to regulations at all times. In conjunction with the Medical Director, responsible for ensuring patients are aware of and adhere to regulations impacting the safety, privacy, and rights of themselves, other patients, and members of the clinic workforce.
Seeks membership in associations, such as MGMA, and organizations that focus on medical specialties practiced by the clinic(s). Represents the college and university on community committees and task forces as appropriate to promote clinic activity and the mission of the college.

Qualifications

Master's degree and four years of experience in a related health and human services field; or a Bachelor's degree and six years in the same. (Note: higher education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Experience in medical practice management/administration.
Experience with basic computer functions and applicable computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or equivalent software.
Experience with accounting, budgeting, and/or cost control procedures.

Preferred

Experience maintaining and improving personal and team effectiveness, and fostering change and creativity.
Experience providing leadership and direction in programmatic, budgetary, and operational functions.
Experience strategically planning and serving as a catalyst for organizational change, cultivating a shared vision with others, and motivating others to transfer vision into action.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
