Under direction has the ability to translate American Sign Language (ASL) for the professional instructional staff in an education setting.

Examples of Duties/ Essential Job Functions
Has the ability to accurately translate complex issues and complex sentences with sophisticated vocabulary from American Sign Language into English and from English into American Sign Language.

Employment Standards/ Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree and completion of Interpreter Training Program with a Level of IV or V, National Association of the Deaf Certification.

Experience: Three years of verifiable paid experience as a sign language interpreter.

License: Valid driver's license is required.

Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to adhere to the NAD/RID Code of Professional Conduct. Ability to interpret from American Sign Language into English and from English into American Sign Language across a variety of complex subject matter. Ability to do platform interpreting. Possess fluency in both expressive and receptive skills of American Sign Language and English. Ability to communicate with/relate to individual deaf/hard of hearing people. Ability to receive and follow instructions, learn and apply college and district policies and procedures and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, faculty and the public.

The continuous district-wide eligibility list will be used to fill full-time and part-time positions.
