The Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies at Ithaca College invites applications for a renewable, three-year, non-tenure-eligible Assistant Professor appointment in writing for emerging media, film, and television beginning August 16, 2018.
Primary responsibilities include teaching writing for videogames and emerging media. Secondary responsibilities include teaching writing for film and/or television. The candidate appointed to this position will teach a full course load per academic year, act as an academic advisor to students, and serve on Department, School, and College committees. Reassigned time up to one course per year for specific academic/creative proposals may be available under the auspices of the Pendleton Faculty Research and Production Grant Program.
MFA in writing for Television, Film, Videogames or Emerging Media preferred. An advanced degree in a related field with extensive professional experience will be considered. Candidates without advanced degrees but with exceptional professional experience writing or developing narrative content that has been produced and distributed nationally by themajorbroadcast, cable, or streaming networks, and/or major video game companies, may be considered.
An ideal candidate should also demonstrate evidence of: 1) a strong creative/professional record; 2) teaching effectiveness appropriate for an undergraduate cinema, television and emerging media program; 3) experience working with diverse populations of students and managing diversity in the classroom; 4) a commitment to teaching writing for Emerging Media as a creative practice.
