Assoc VP of Strategic Communications
Today, Clemson seeks to continue building upon its reputation with the addition of an Associate Vice President of Strategic Communications in University Relations. This critical leadership role will report to the division's Vice President and will work to transform the office's strategic communications organization in alignment with the university's strategic plan.
We are looking for a successful, accomplished and collaborative communicator who has a track record of working effectively in a decentralized higher education or non-profit environment. S/he needs to understand traditional media and public relations tactics as well as how to lead a decentralized team to create high-impact content for use on multiple platforms.
The AVP will be a superb storyteller in his/her own right with an ability to quickly understand the unique Clemson culture and help shape the university's story in ways that resonate both with members of the Clemson community and outside stakeholders. S/he will work closely with senior staff members across the division to create a progressive, unified, results-oriented organization dedicated to serving the university's interests and those of its students, faculty and staff.
The AVP will serve as a senior leader and chief crisis communications officer; play a leading role in managing Clemson's media interactions, including as the university's spokesperson; and will work closely with the university's Executive Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in communications-related discipline; master's degree a plus. 10+ years experience in media relations, with higher education a plus.
